Theatre Royal - Brighton Concerts 2024

This is the view from the first balcony, second row back on the far right hand side if your looking at the stage. Perfect view, smaller children were able to see over the people in front. Felt like you were close the stage! Gorgeous theatre that’s recently had a refurb since we visited, will be back soon that’s for sure!

Really lovely little theatre in the centre of Brighton. Highly recommended, lots of different types of shows held here. Nice staff, nice place, nice bar next door.

Lovely old theatre, staff very welcoming and helpful. Wheelchair access to the stalls is good, disabled toilet is a little cramped, but adequate. Wheelchair seating is off to the side but still has a good view of the stage. The staff also removed the seats behind to give extra room.

Went to see sister act with my mother and grandmother, the show was phenomenal but the seating is very cramped with not much legroom. The thing that let is down really is the etiquette of other people. The woman next to me ate the entire show out of a huge crinkly, noisy bag of popcorn. When she wasn't eating she was on her mobile phone texting people. The light was most off-putting. Then at the end of the show when the cast has their reprise, a very large woman and her equally large son decided to stand up in their seats and block the view of my grandmother who can't stand so easily and so she missed the whole ending. Why are people so selfish. The venue is very old and beautiful but I think another time, unless I could get aisle seats or front row, I wouldn't bother going. It's a lot of money for 2 hours of being uncomfortable.

I sat in Row D in the Stalls, and when I attended I was told they’d recently had a refurb of the seats. I have never been to this theatre before, however it is evident it is very old and pretty much as is as when it was first built (which makes it of beautiful character!). Therefore, I guessed the refurb was to try and make the seats more modern, comfortable and spacious. I was very, very wrong. These seats are the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in at a theatre, the fact they are meant to be the refurbished seats is baffling. It feels as though the refurb was just the theatre trying to cram another row in, as the leg room was non-existent. My knees were genuinely pressed against the seat in front of me, so I had to turn at an angle to avoid giving the person in front a rollercoaster experience as every time I slightly shuffled it shook the poor man’s chair. Row A quite literally had their knees against the front of the stage. If this was Seaworld they would have been in what is known as, ‘the splash zone’ What a shame as the show I came to see, The Woman in Black, was absolutely superb. Sadly, my uncomfortable experience did dampen the occasion and for that reason I can’t say I’d recommend the theatre or will ever be visiting again. However, for all my moaning, I will say the staff members were absolutely lovely. All of them were so polite, helpful and friendly!
