William Elliott Whitmore, born in Lee County, Iowa, crafts intense blues and gospel-inspired Americana music. Known for his raw voice, he debuted with "Hymns for the Hopeless" in 2003. His acclaimed albums include "Radium Death," showcasing his punk energy. Whitmore collaborated with producer Luke Tweedy and toured with the Low Anthem. His label debut with Anti- was 2009's "Animals in the Dark." Later, under Bloodshot Records, Whitmore recorded covers like Johnny Cash's songs before forming Whitmore Records for new projects.
