Oakland thrash metal pioneers Vio-Lence, formed in Dublin, CA, in 1985, are known for aggressive Bay Area thrash. Their 1988 debut, Eternal Nightmare, gained underground acclaim. They featured Robb Flynn (later of Machine Head) and influenced thrash’s second wave. After disbanding in ’93, they re-formed in 2019, releasing the 2022 EP Let the World Burn.
