Jazz pianist Fred Hersch, hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, is renowned for his nuanced style and acclaimed compositions, influenced by jazz legends like Ahmad Jamal. A multiple Grammy nominee, his works like "Dancing in the Dark" and "Floating" are staples of modern jazz. An educator at heart, former students include Brad Mehldau. Openly gay and living with HIV, Hersch vigorously supports gay rights and AIDS research.
