About Tony Christie

British balladeer Tony Christie, born in South Yorkshire, scored major hits in the 1970s like "Is This the Way to Amarillo?" and "I Did What I Did for Maria." Known for his easy listening style, he collaborated with Mitch Murray and Peter Callender, and later Graham Sacher. Christie made a comeback with "Walk Like a Panther" by Pulp's Jarvis Cocker and topped UK charts in 2005, raising funds for Comic Relief.
