The Libertines, formed in London by Carl Barât and Pete Doherty, revitalized British indie rock combining melodic styles with poetic songwriting. Influenced by bands like The Kinks and The Clash, the group gained fame with albums "Up the Bracket" and "The Libertines." Frequent drummer Gary Powell and bassist John Hassall joined the lineup, and Mick Jones collaborated on production. Known for chaotic performances and drama, their hits include "Can't Stand Me Now" and "Don't Look Back into the Sun." After a hiatus, the band returned with 2015's "Anthems for Doomed Youth."
