Japanese group Fishmans formed in Tokyo in 1987 and are known for their dreamy sound blending reggae, dub, trip-hop, and ambient. With haunting vocals by Shinji Sato and deep bass by Yuzuru Kashiwabara, they created hits like "Night Cruising." Their album Long Season became a concert staple. Although Sato's death in 1999 ended the original band, their cult following has grown internationally, bolstered by reunions and tributes. Collaborations with acts like ZAK and producer Kazufumi Kodama have further cemented their legacy.
